A) I got a little wooden tray call “Nibutani Ita” by a local Ainu artist. Visiting Nibutani and talking with the local artist was one of my highlight of this trip. Every time I hold this tray, it brings me back to the view of the sacred Saru river. It was a cloudy with some sun and snow kind of day and river was shining in silver color.

あ）私は「二風谷イタ」と言う、小さななトレーを二風谷で購入。博一と色々ある中からこの一枚をチョイス。木目と彫りが優しく「作品を作ろう」と言うメンタリティで制作した感じでがしなく、美しい生活道具を作ろう、「作ろう」と言う感じも無く、ただ、いつもの様に無意識に模様を彫っている感じが素敵に感じた。民芸品って本来そうあるべきだと思っている。この器を手に取るとアイヌの神話と沙流川の景色を思い出す。晴れのち曇りで時々雪。あの日、沙流川は銀色に輝いていたんだ。

B) We got some room fragrance from a company call Fupunomori. Hiro’s choice was “Into The Snow” which is based with Hokkaido Pine Fir fragrance with a hint of citrus. The scent is inspired by the snow-blanketed Shimokawa forest in winter. My choice was “Akaezomatsu”, Sakhalin Spruce fragrance. I chose Akaezomatsu for it’s pure frangrance and because it is FSC^®-certified forest material, I am planning to use it in my bedroom by spraying on my pillow before going to bed.

い）Fupunomoriと言う北海道ブランドの香りも購入してみた。博一は「Into The Snow」と言う香りをセレクト。私は彼に影響され「アカエゾマツ」をセレクト。FSC^®森林認証の材料を元で作られてて、使用目的は寝室の枕に寝る前にシュッとスプレーをしようと思いました。

I grabbed some last minute Hokkaido dairy related product and locally harvested honey.

最終日にパパパッと購入して食品達。

C) Ashoro Cheese: I can buy this through my local co-op but just grabbed one because it’s a good cheese.

う）あしょろチーズ「真」生活クラブでも買えるチーズです。強い個性は無いのですが、シンプルに美味しいなぁと思える味わいです。

D) Yoshimi Camembert Blue Cheese: I don’t have any info about this brand but looked good so got one. It had a very fresh taste like the imported ones I had when I was a kid. (Sold only in Hokkaido)

え）小林牧場Yoshimiカマンブルーチース。カマンブルーは北海道限定。さっぱりとした味わい。チーズ好きの父は冷蔵庫にいつもカマンベールチーズをストックしていたのですが、まだ国産のが無い時代で35年位前の話。その時のチーズの味に近い味わいでした。シンプル、くどくなく、でも味がある的な。

E) Yotsuba Fermented Butter: We can buy Yotsuba butter all over Japan but this one is made in a traditional way and sold only in Hokkaido. It tasted richer than Yotsuba’s regular fermented butter.

お）よつ葉北海道発酵バター。昔ながらの方法で作った、北海道限定のバターです。全国で手に入るよつ葉の発酵バターより味わいが濃くて美味しいです。

F) Butter No Itoko: A waffle made of butter milk with Hokkaido red bean sandwiched inside. I grabbed it because I thought it was from Hokkaido but actually it was from Nasu city. BUT, it was so goooooood! They have many flavors and sells out really fast so if you see them, just give it a try.

か）バターのいとこ、小豆味。北海道のお菓子と思って買ったら、那須なのね！北海道の無農薬の小豆がサンドされた限定品だったので売っていたのかな？昨年の秋に那須に行った時からちょっと気になっていたのですが、開けて食べてびっくりの美味しさでした。。なんじゃこれ！ってのが最初の感想。気になるかた買って見て。（内容はあえて教えない。びっくりしてもらいたいから。）

G) Clover Honey from a NPO Hotto Space Cosmos: My first encounter with this brand but reading its description about how they took care of the forest, keeping it as natural as possible for the bees and not rushing the bees to collect the honey, I was sold.

き）クローバーの蜂蜜。NPOほっとスペースコスモスと言うブランドの物。「蜂蜜はミツバチの力によって熟成乾燥させた自然派の完熟蜂蜜のみを厳選しています。」と言う説明が気になり、お値段もそれなりにしましたが、買って見ました。いろんな土地の「本物」の蜂蜜の味比べにハマっています。「本物」とうたって「本物」で無いケースもありますが、それも勉強だと思っています。とにかく、地球から蜂さんが減少している残念な世の中、細やかながら良いなーと、思う会社の物は応援だと思って買って試しています。

H) Candy bonbon, Washi tape and a clear folder all from Rokkatei: I can get some of the Rokkatei’s product at selected stores but these three are only sold in Hokkaido. Rokkatei’s stationary is a must buy for fans.

く）六花亭では念願のボンボン、マスキングテープとクリアファイルを購入。ボンボン、本当に繊細なのね。初めて買って、理解しました。

I) Certificate, canvas shopping bag and Tenugui (Japanese handkerchief) all from Moerenuma gift shop. I just couldn’t resist.

け）モエレ沼公園のギフトショップではエコバック、手拭いとモエレ山頂記念を購入。エコバックは生地がしっかりしてて、買いです。

J) Ekelund’s dishcloth from a store call Robanoko. Couldn’t resist that face of Moomin.

こ）予定外だったのですが、ろばのこと言う玩具屋でムーミンと目があいキッチンタオル購入。

K) A bag of Morino Shizuku coffee beans from Morihiko. Morino Shizuku is only available at Morihiko’s head store. Actually we can buy Morihiko’s coffee in major supermarket in Japan but not this flavor.

さ）森の雫の豆ももちろん購入。尋ねた土地のコーヒー豆は必ず買って帰っています。森の雫は森彦の本店のみの取り扱いです。
